Mary joined the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul in 1984 and has devoted her life to God to serve the people who are most in need. She says that most of the community houses she has lived in throughout the UK have been in areas marked by poverty and segregation and this has helped her understand some of the complex issues facing people who are poor and homeless. As an occupational therapist she has worked with people disadvantaged through poor health or disability. Mary currently works for Marillac Care, Brentwood, caring for adults with severe neurological impairment.
