Submission: Homeless Link

Depaul UK submitted evidence to a consultation organised by Homeless Link, investigating effective models of homelessness prevention.

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) commissioned Homeless Link to conduct research into successful models of homelessness prevention.

The research is designed to identify good practice, look at what works in homelessness prevention and present case studies that highlight effective working. Prevention of homelessness is important to ending homelessness and ensuring people receive adequate support before they reach crisis point. It is also more cost effective in the longer term and can help avoid the negative impact homelessness has on other areas of life.

As part of the research, Homeless Link issued a Call for Evidence of existing and emerging homelessness prevention practice that provides support to people at risk of homelessness, to which Depaul UK made a submission.

In the submission, three Depaul UK services were highlighted - Your Chance, Oldham Reconnect and Nightstop UK. These services represent some of the different and effective approaches that Depaul UK takes to preventing youth homelessness.
