Nightstop Hertfordshire offers free emergency accommodation for people aged 16-25 across Hertfordshire in the homes of trained and vetted volunteer hosts, keeping young people out of traditional homeless shelters. Volunteer hosts open up their homes to provide this accommodation, with the support of Nightstop Hertfordshire staff. The service is part of Depaul UK, a national homelessness charity with a focus on young people.
If you’re aged 16-25 and need somewhere safe to stay for the night, you can refer yourself using the contact details below. Referrals can also be made by other professionals and agencies including but not limited to medical professionals, school, college or university staff, social workers and support workers.
Placements last for between one night and four weeks, during which time Nightstop Hertfordshire staff support guests to find more permanent accommodation. Guests will usually stay with more than one host during a placement.
Young people are given a private room, a warm meal and access to washing facilities in a safe home, while we look for a more permanent solution. They are also given breakfast in the morning, and a packed lunch if they need one.
Our Nightstop services in Hertfordshire rely on the kindness of volunteer hosts. Hosts offer their homes on a night-by-night basis and are reimbursed for any expenses incurred.
