Nightstop London Volunteer Administrator

Nightstop is a busy service that requires good communication with volunteer Hosts and with young people needing to access our emergency accommodation. The purpose of this role will be to act as the main point of contact for Nightstop on that day, through phone and email.
Main tasks

The purpose of this role will be to act as the main point of contact for Nightstop hosts and young people seeking accommodation through phone and email. This role would suit an applicant looking to gain experience in the charity sector or an applicant with the capacity to help during the week who is looking to give back.

The role will involve calling hosts in the morning to check if they are still free to host that night and gathering feedback from hosts and guests about their placement the night before. It will also involve monitoring our main email inbox and taking incoming calls to give basic details to referral partners, young people and potential new volunteers.

With support from our Nightstop Coordinators, this could include sending referral forms to partner organisations, signposting young people to alternative accommodation options and offering support through the wider prevention team. It would also include responding to potential volunteers to thank them for enquiring with our service and sending them an application pack.

This role will be remotely based and will require the applicant to have a computer or laptop available.

Main Tasks:

  • Attending Induction and support sessions
  • Adhering to the terms of Depaul UK’s policies
  • Phoning Hosts to confirm their availability
  • Phoning Hosts and Guests to take feedback
  • Taking incoming calls from young people to signpost internally or externally
  • Monitoring the Nightstop email inbox and respond to enquiries from referral partners, young people and potential volunteers
Skills, attitude and knowledge

Necessary skills, attitudes and knowledge:

  • Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
  • Organisation and administrative skills
  • Experience with MS Office and Outlook
  • A commitment to the work of Depaul UK
  • Capacity to support the team at least 1 day per week within office hours

  • Previous experience working with young people or volunteers
