Depaul helps people around the UK who are homeless, vulnerable and disadvantaged, with a special focus on young people. We are a homelessness charity with the largest network of emergency accommodation for young people in the UK, making a difference to the lives of thousands of young people each year. We are unique, innovative and very passionate about what we do, working in the very heart of local communities.
You will have a vital role to play in helping us achieve our mission of offering homeless and disadvantaged people the opportunity to fulfill their potential and move towards an independent and positive future.
Nightstop is an award winning emergency accommodation service for homeless 16-25 year olds. Using a strong network of trained and vetted volunteers, young people are placed in volunteer host’s spare rooms for a few nights before they move into safe, sustainable accommodation. We launched the service in Sheffield in 2016 and are excited to be able to expand and develop the service across the wider South Yorkshire area and recruit an additional Nightstop Coordinator for our existing team.
As Nightstop Coordinator, you would be responsible for promoting the service across South Yorkshire to attract prospective volunteers, leading the recruitment, training and on-going support of volunteers as well as dealing with referrals and assessing the suitability of young people for placement with Nightstop and providing support to them throughout their stay.
Due to the fact that Nightstop is an emergency accommodation service, there will be some requirement for flexible working including some out of hours work as well as taking part in an emergency on-call rota.
To be a success in this role, you will have;
- Experience of working with volunteers and disadvantaged young people
- Knowledge/understanding of the issues homeless young people face, their support needs and how these might be met
- A good knowledge of services available across South Yorkshire that support young people
- Excellent communication skills, including strong presentation skills for a variety of audiences.
In return we can offer a range of employee benefits including; competitive salary, 5 weeks annual holiday plus bank holidays (rising to 6 weeks plus bank holidays), contributory pension scheme, life assurance and childcare voucher scheme.
Depaul strives to be equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. If you require information to be sent to you in an alternative format please let us know by contacting email@example.com or 0207 939 1250.
